Essay / The Mexican Revolution and Portfirio Díaz - 997
For thirty-four years, Mexico lived under the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz. During this period, Mexican industries flourished, but the Mexican people remained deep in poverty with little or no opportunity for educational growth. The Mexican Revolution was the result of Díaz's fall from leadership, the people's need for independence, and resulted in a new beginning for Mexico. The Mexican Revolution started because Porfirio Diaz would not allow anyone to speak out or say what they should do. The Mexican people were upset because everyone was in poverty because only a select few people actually had money because Porfirio Diaz had allowed it to those select few, including those in power behind Porfirio. Due to poverty and the fact that the poor have no say in what they do or should do, this caused an uprising of peasants led by Emeliano Zapata and Pancho Villa, very well known for their efforts against corruption and poverty in Mexico. Although Porfirio Diaz has done great things to help Mexico prosper in its industrial and economic form, normal working class citizens who are not good friends with Diaz or do not know him personally are broke and do not have no way. to escape their financial problems because Diaz is not allowing them to make enough money to thrive in whatever they do. The way Diaz ruled Mexico was so bad that he didn't even allow the majority of Mexicans to receive an education because they couldn't afford it. The only people to benefit from the new rail systems and factories were the wealthy hacienda landowners. The rich hacienda owners were also the ones who basically controlled the peons, they controlled them like... middle of paper......t up. This group of young leaders believed they could assume their rightful role in Mexican politics once President Díaz publicly announced that Mexico was ready for democracy. Although the Mexican Constitution provided for public elections and other democratic institutions, Díaz and his supporters used their political and economic resources to remain in power indefinitely. Mexico has its ups and downs. Some parts of Mexico are nice places to visit for vacation, but since 2007-2008, drugs and cartels started to rule Mexico and use it to ship and store their drugs, which is now the problem facing we are still facing Mexico today. not only Mexico, but also Mexico seems to be the number one drug trafficking country making headlines..
