The advantages of using a painting are that the reader does not need to know the language to understand the scene and can understand the whole scene much more quickly. The limitations are that each scene cannot be elaborate enough, which could cause many characters from the myths to be forgotten. The advantages of a poem are that the scene can be described very elaborately and more characters can be incorporated into the story, while the disadvantage is that the metaphors in poems can be convoluted and the audience has need to know the language to understand the poem.
