Essay / Dilemma Concerning the Fault in Our Stars - 1013
“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in the stars, but in ourselves, if we are subordinates.” The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a novel about the love lives of cancer survivor Hazel Grace and amputee Augustus Waters by John Green. Hazel meets Augustus Waters at a support group. This is where the love story begins. Augustus makes him believe that the world is a wish factory. Love continued to connect through a book called The Imperial Affliction titled Peter Van Houten. The book is about a girl named Anna and her conquering life against cancer until her death. But therein lies the dilemma. The book ends in the middle of a sentence with no proper ending. After many emails and letters to the author, they finally get permission to go to Amsterdam to hear the real ending. They thus obtain tickets to Amsterdam using Augustus' only wish from the "Make a Wish" foundation (since Hazel had already used hers at Disneyland). ). In Amsterdam, they shared a magical night under the stars at a really chic restaurant called Orangee. They were even able to visit Anne Frank's house. When the day came to visit Peter Van Houten, they were very disappointed. Peter turned out to be an alcoholic and couldn't give them closure. Hazel was devastated that she had searched for the answer for so long and still hadn't found an answer. But Augustus promises him that he will write him one that would be better than Peter's. Shortly after the trip to Amsterdam, Augustus said his cancer had returned but was still bearable. But soon after, he was sent to intensive care. While Augustus suffers from cancer, Hazel remains heartbroken. Augustus is released from intensive care for a few weeks where he spends his last moments with his family and friends. Meanwhile, in the middle of the paper, there is adult content that younger audiences would not understand. The book does not have a specific gender or type of person they appeal to. Our Faulty Stars is a book full of humor and tragedy. An example of humor was near the end when Hazel went to visit Augustus' family and there were a group of little kids running around playing tag. One started yelling at the other, calling each other and each other idiots and it started to sound like a song full of idiots. RelateThe Fault In our Stars truly captures how a cancer survivor truly lives. When we see cancer survivors, we usually pity them and feel sorry for them, as they said in the book. But this time, they show it from the cancer survivor's perspective and describe how he feels about the way we treat him. This shows us their side of the story.
