America faced many challenges related to the War of 1812 and the Panic of 1819. The election of Andrew Jackson in 1828 promoted political and social change in America, many began to feel a renewed sense of optimism and hope. for the future of America. Although the Jacksonian Democrats, followers and supporters of Andrew Jackson, failed to live up to their self-appointed role as guardians of the Constitution, they succeeded in expanding political democracy, protecting the liberties of some individuals, and create equal economic opportunities. Coming from a family that was not the richest, Andrew Jackson considered himself the “common man” president.
