    Struggles I grew up in a Mexican family listening to corridos, which is a kind of song, because at every holiday, every celebration and every occasion, that's what the family was playing. As I became more aware, I began to realize what these songs were actually saying. These corridos told a life story, ranging from life issues such as poverty, hard times, immigration, social and political issues, and/or life in general. An important and recurring theme that I saw developing throughout was immigration. Many of these songs expressed strong feelings that many Mexican immigrants, including my parents and other family members, felt regarding their citizenship status, how they were discriminated against, and ultimately what they felt. These corridos tell the story of how America was born free, how man divided it and how these people are as much Americans as "real" Americans because they worked hard to get what they have, with blood, sweat and tears. And even as a first generation Mexican American, I can relate too. Although these types of corridos are sometimes controversial, a universal theme is present: never give up, never lose sight of your dreams, and if you work hard, you will get what you have. planned to be. Some of these corridos celebrate what they have accomplished by recounting their lives after overcoming wrestling. I can't personally relate to these struggles, not in the sense that I experienced it, but through a source of inspiration.
