Essay / The Benefits of Being a Good Reader - 879
IntroductionOnce I noticed that there was a project I needed to complete, there were ten selected topics to cover, but one of these topics made me choose it, which is "While reading". I've always wanted to know what people think about reading and if they really recognize its importance in their lives. So I did a survey by asking them different questions about reading. Research was also conducted on two different questions. The purpose of the research is to discover the benefits of reading and ways people can improve their reading skills. Although the benefits of reading that I have discovered through research are countless, I have discovered through the survey that people don't read enough. Which is powerless for their knowledge.Survey ResultsThe survey was completed on October 19 by 78 respondents, which is very useful for having more information on the subject. I sent the survey to my classmates, as well as friends and family via Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. 71% of those surveyed were women, while 29% of them were men. The majority of respondents were between the ages of 18 and 19, which was expected because I sent the survey primarily to my classmates and friends. However, only 5% of respondents were aged 26 and over. 50% of respondents were from Arab countries, excluding Qatar and the GCC. I always wanted to know what people thought about reading. So I asked them, “Do you like reading?” Although 29% of respondents answered no, they don't like reading, I was happy that 71% of them answered yes, they like reading. Additionally, 14% of those surveyed feel fantastic about reading, while only 4% feel terrible about it, which is a good thing in general. When I asked them how much time they spend reading, 22% of respondents already read...... middle of paper ......our words. Third, change your reading pace from one material to another. For example, when you read something difficult and need to gain information from it, slow down and concentrate. Whereas if you read something easy like magazines or newspapers, you can speed up your reading pace. Conclusion Doing this project was a great opportunity to improve my reading skills. I knew for the first time information that will help me in my life, especially in my academic life. The results of the survey were anticipated, since most of the respondents were Arabs, it is well known that they do not read enough. Research has found that the benefits of reading are numerous and that there are many ways to be a good reader. If I were to do the project again, I would add a question to the survey, which is "why don't people read enough?”.
