  • Essay / The importance of risky behavior - 2443

The reason is that the people around them can influence them for better or worse. Taking risks with the people around you can be beneficial to some extent, but it can also have consequences. Depending on who you associate with will almost certainly determine the outcome of your character and the traits you obtain. This also suggests that risky behaviors are a factor in adolescent development. As I said before, not all risky actions have to be negative, but rather some can be life-changing for the greater good. There are various organizations and institutions that promote the idea of taking risks to help young people achieve their goals in life. Cornell University is one in particular, as it has a human development department for adolescents. In one of their reports titled “Adolescents and Risk: Helping Young People Make Better Choices” (2014), he discusses the benefits of taking risks collectively in order to achieve one's life goals and maximize one's potential. We can therefore accept that risk-taking is not always an act of disobedience or recklessness, but rather can be a source of motivation and a push towards important goals.
