Doing Business in IndiaAccording to the CIA World Fact Book and the World Bank, India's economy, valued at trillions of dollars, is ranked fourth in the world and is the second most populous country in the world (n.d.). These statistics provide businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs with adequate indicators of India's potential in the global market. Since the reforms of the 1990s, India has embraced the concept of globalization and market opening. GlobalEDGE (nd) identified these reforms as including "increasingly liberal investment and exchange rate regimes, industrial decontrol, deductions from tariffs and other trade barriers, opening and modernization of the financial sector, significant adjustments to the government's monetary and fiscal policies and more guarantees for foreign investments. intellectual property rights” (GlobalEDGE, nd).
