Essay / Reflection of a Classroom Observation - 770
As a teacher, I believe it is necessary to set the tone of the class and let them know that the teacher is in control of the class. The classroom atmosphere should be welcoming and eager to learn. The class I observed had a great atmosphere and most students were engaged. All students were attentive to the teacher, eager to learn, asking questions and no student in the class was excluded from the class discussion or learning that particular day. As a future educator, I think my biggest challenge will be trying to become flexible with my schedule and changing lesson plans in terms of organization. Another challenge will also be to motivate each student to learn and be active in class. I think it will depend on what grade level I'm teaching, whether it's daycare or elementary. I will address these challenges by becoming more organized and completing projects where participation is graded and required, so that every student learns and is not left behind. This observation was very motivating and helped me to better appreciate the teaching profession. They help me decide what grade level I want to teach as I do more.
