  • Essay / Advantages and Disadvantages of Liquefied Petroleum Gas

With the increase in the development of technology and human race, people have not taken care of the environment in which they live. So, most people have polluted the environment and thereby reduced the quality. of the place which can be harmful to them. Although many aspects of pollution, such as soil, air and water pollution, can be detected visually and by taste. For air pollution caused by some gases, it cannot be detected because it is odorless, tasteless and colorless. Some gases are useful in our daily lives. This makes our daily life easier and saves us time. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is one of the commonly used alternative fuels in the world today. It is a mainstay of heating and cooking in Malaysia. LPG gas is a fossil fuel, like oil and natural gas. It can be refined from petroleum and natural gas in the same way that gasoline is refined from crude oil (Grabianowski, 2005). There are two main types of LPG: butane and propane. They are only used in their pure form for testing purposes and are supplied as commercial butane or commercial propane, which are gas mixtures with other gases added to improve operating characteristics (Treloar, 2010) . The advantages of LPG gas are that most propane comes from domestic sources, cheaper than gasoline and potentially less toxic, emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and non-methane hydrocarbons ( NMHC). The combustion gas involves a chemical reaction. This will produce heat as the gas reacts into a new compound. A compound is a substance with more than one type of atom (Senese 2010). Combustion byproducts enter buildings and homes directly from the use of unvented kerosene and gas heaters, gas fireplaces, gas ranges, indoor use of hot... ... middle of paper ...... acts in the same way as a microcontroller unit. It is an open source electronic prototype platform based on flexible and easy-to-use hardware and software with high performance and special features. More detailed explanations about this unit will be discussed in chapters 2 and 3. For the detection circuit system, there is the MQ-2 which can detect two types of gas: liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and gas combustion. The outputs of the system are the LEDs and the exhaust fan. Global System Mobile Technology (GSM) will be used as the communication system to send an alert to the authorized person. For software programming, it will be classified into two categories: i. Adruino programming ii. GSM ProgrammingArduino software is used to write the microcontroller programming of the Arduino board. While GSM programming will use certain libraries in order to enable the system to send the alert to the mobile phone..
