Most vocational programs are expensive to operate due to the labor costs of the equipment, for example a culinary and baking arts program. Professional programs can become outdated for their time. Technology has propelled us into the 21st century, where jobs will require minimal knowledge of technology to be successful. Now is the time to look to the future and design vocational education to meet the needs of this century and beyond. So how do we plan for the future of vocational education? Vocational education students must be prepared to embark on their chosen career with a sense of responsibility, passion, knowledge, and the motivation necessary to become productive members of our society at a level of success that fulfills their wants and desires in life. Vocational programs must begin at a minimum between 9th and 12th grade. This level of education must be the one where the foundations for student success are laid.
