Essay / The Treaty of V - 1158
World War I has left a lasting effect on the world today through the devastation and treaties that took place during this period. Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Point Speech helped influence the drafting of the Treaty of Versailles after World War I. These documents were written to spread peace throughout the world. These two documents changed the United States and the world and led to Germany's resistance and the rise of the Nazi Party during World War II. The devastating outcome of the First World War led to many changes and differences of views between countries. During World War I, the United States suffered 320,710 casualties (WW1 Casualties and Death Tables). During World War I, there were a total of 37,466,904 casualties (WWI casualties and death charts). All countries involved in the war suffered from immense numbers of soldiers killed in the line of duty or dying from injuries or illnesses that occurred during this period. Germany also suffered huge losses during this war. Of the 11,000,000 mobilized soldiers at their disposal, 1,773,700 were killed. Their total losses totaled 7,142,558, which when calculated represented 64.9% of their men (WWI casualties and mortality tables). Germany, although it suffered massive losses and was not exempt from any of the tragedies that took place in all countries, did not emerge from World War I easily and struggled a once all countries began to come together to understand. a post-war plan. When the representatives met in Paris, all the destruction of the war was blamed on Germany and this was taken into account when creating the Treaty of Versailles. Woodrow Wilson, the President of the United States, showed his strong will.... .. middle of paper ...... in fact, Germany was able to revolt under the leadership of Adolf Hitler. “Within four years, Mussolini had become Prime Minister of Italy” and this was a direct effect of the resentment of Wilson's Fourteen Points (8). The failure of the Treaty of Versailles and the Fourteen Point Address was a huge downfall for the entire world. The United States and the entire world were affected by these two treaties. Germany was able to revolt, which caused collective hysteria in all countries. One good thing that came out of the fourteen-point speech was that “his proposal helped influence an eventful ceasefire in the war, as well as the independence movements of many nations around the world” (9). Since the treaties were "largely, if not entirely, motivated by self-interest and undoubtedly played their part in the process that would lead to another world war in just two decades ».” (10).
