This speech is also known as the “race” speech. The speech aimed to address the issue of race in the lives of Americans and it addressed racial history and tensions in America. The speech responds to the video clip of Barack Obama's pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, making comments against the government and America. Obama uses all three rhetorical appeals, but relies more on the logo appeal to address to the nation his concerns regarding his affiliation with Reverend Wright. The logo is the logic used to support a statement; it can also be the facts and statistics used to support the argument. Barack Obama carefully explains the racial problems in America and offers logical solutions to these problems. For example, when he says, "But race is an issue that I believe this nation cannot afford to ignore at this time." “We would be making the same mistake that Reverend Wright made in his offensive sermons on America. ...
