Essay / Phillip Zimbardo, What Makes a Hero? - 1049
When we are young, we imagine a hero the same way we imagine superheroes. In capes, with superhuman abilities protecting the universe. We then end up imagining them as athletes, singers/rock stars, actors, authors, etc. Once we recognize the true definition of a hero, we realize who the real heroes are. For some, military men and women become true heroes, or perhaps our parents, our teachers, a human rights activist or someone who has had a great impact on the life of our society or of our society. For example, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. improved the lives of millions by bringing justice to minorities. Gandhi, the hero of too many, led a nonviolent revolution to liberate his country. A hero is a person as average as you and me, but he rises to the occasion and does exemplary things to solve a problem and improve his situation..
