Essay / Redemption of childhood in The Kite Runner by Khaled...
Hassan agrees and sets off in pursuit of the kite with Amir following him some time later. However, meanwhile, Hassan is cornered by Assif and several other children. Hassan is then punished by Assif for protecting Amir, as well as being a different type of Afghan. In one quick movement, Assif performs a gruesome sexual act on Hassan, while Amir watches from afar in the street. And what does Amir do? Well, he ran like he said, “I ran because I was a coward.” I was afraid of Assef and what he would do to me. I was afraid of getting hurt” (77). Not only did Amir run away, but he never told anyone what he saw, including Hassan. However, this is not his last sin, because a few months later, Amir accuses Hassan of a thief. Hassan, facing Baba, says that he stole the items in question to protect Amir. And Shorty leaves Baba's service with his father against Baba insisting on staying with them and solving the problem in a different way... In the end, Amir got bonding time with his father, however, at the cost of not helping Hassan in his greatest moment
