    Introduction - Beauty and DarknessCambodian is one of the newest influxes of immigrants from Southeast Asia. The beauty and darkness of Cambodia engraved in history. Cambodia, a country of fertile lands and dotted rice fields, famous and breathtaking monuments and ancient temples, arts and crafts, cultural attractions and certainly a history like no other. It is the country that is home to one of the seven wonders of the world, namely the famous Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument ever built, especially in Cambodia. This ancient ruin attracts millions of tourists from all over the world. Unfortunately, putting aside all these captured beauties that Cambodia has, at one point in its history; darkness has devoured this fragile nation and turned it upside down. This peaceful nation was once ruled by the French as part of French Indochina. The Cambodian government's efforts to redress the balance and restore its nation's independence from European colonization have paid a price. The years of this nation's sad and worn history of corrupt government, unrest, followed by years of civil war, have thus put them in a state of dire emergence. Additionally, with its border neighbor Vietnam's war with the United States, Cambodia was slowly dragged into a state of obscurity under the Nixon administration. The Nixon administration carried out secret bombings in Cambodia in the early 1970s because Vietnamese forces had camped their bases in the Cambodian province. This deceptive loss led to the rise of Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot. His influence has earned him a lot of support in Cambodia. Pol Pot and his entourage brought...... middle of paper...... occupations are at 17.8%. Sales and office jobs are at 23.5%. Agricultural, fishing and forestry professions are at 0.5%. Construction, extraction and maintenance professions are at 5.5%. Finally, occupations in production, transportation and moving materials represent 36.8% (Cambodian Census of America, 2000). Education level matches the 2000 Census report for Cambodian Americans. About 37.3% attend primary school and 9th grade. The next level is secondary school with or without a diploma, or around 16.1%. At the other end, about 46.8% are high school graduates. Additionally, only about 13.4% of them attend college or university. The degrees earned are associate's degrees at 5.2%, bachelor's degrees at 6.9% and last but not least graduate or professional degrees at around 2.3% (Cambodian America Census, 2000).
