  • Essay / English Writing Course Evaluation - 1036

When we talk about English 1110, everyone actually knows that the main part of the course is writing. The aim of this course is to improve students' structure, writing style, thoughts and performance. During this semester, the program includes essays and topics on many different aspects of different questions that are useful to me. Thanks to this course, I had the opportunity to improve my writing skills. For example, before writing an article, I always have a plan, strategies, arrangement and modification, as well as looking for ideas to better improve my writing style. Before taking English 1101, I simply wrote an essay with what I thought about that time and I didn't care whether my essay was understandable or not; however, I have improved over the last three months. When I see a title, I start writing down all the ideas and also create an overview and order of all the documents in a reasonable way. Moreover, in all the assignments I wrote during this semester, I started to have a different way of thinking by listening to my friends' arguments, feedback or comments, their agreements or disagreements. These group activities organized by friends were helpful because I began to recognize what was right and wrong in my essay. From there, I have my own personal opinions and argue my points. As a writer, my greatest strength is to present the essay in introduction, body and conclusion and especially thesis. At EAP I was taught carefully in this regard, the construction of an introduction, a thesis is the main factor because it is the main point of the essay. However, organizing ideas and putting them into sentences is not my strong point. For example, in the essay there were a lot of ideas and arguments that I collected and randomly put them into paragraphs... middle of paper ...... into songs . We hear these songs and feel them in different ways depending on each person. The articles also have the same reaction. In order to deeply understand the content of any paragraph, poem, etc., I must partially judge certain parts based on the information and knowledge the author gives me. The ability to judge is very powerful, although it can also make mistakes (low judgment ability!). Over the course of this semester, I have improved my ability to predict better than before, so I feel more confident in judging the importance of Pollan's arguments in The Omnivore's Dilemma. Therefore, judgment is a thinking skill that is important in my life and my future. In my personal opinion, if we carefully consider all the information, even if the matter cannot be enough to justify reasons, judgment ability and optimism can help me succeed in the future. .
