    The rapid growth of the Internet worldwide in the early 1990s sparked a technological revolution that continues to shape the world we live in today. This boom brought with it the perception of unlimited opportunity and success in the dot com world. As a result, entrepreneurs of all stripes have taken to the Internet to pitch their ideas. After the initial rush to this new goldmine, the benefits of the World Wide Web became apparent to all who knew and loved it. Even though the success of the opportunities seems to have come to a screeching halt, several entities continue to make the most of the situation. Today, names like EBay and Amazon are commonplace in almost every household with a computer and an Internet connection. But, perhaps even more surprising, the name Google has become more than just a silly word with a meaning that most people don't know. This is an incredible success story in a market that has not been well received by smaller competitors. Google Inc. is a major public company in the United States today, but looking back at its creation, growth, and success, we witness a truly fascinating story. Two graduate students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, came together to work on a research project. in the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University. At the time they began working together in 1995, they were planning to develop new search technology that would work more efficiently and on a completely different principle than existing web search engines.
