Greta NagyGame Structure and AnalysisMarch 13, 2014The Short Life of Doctor FaustusThe short story titled Doctor Faustus is extremely imperative. This remains true when we take a look at the moral stories, lessons, and warnings. As we learn about the condensed and inexplicable life of Doctor Faustus, it is evident that he has unfortunately taken away what could have been a good life. Corruption, influence, and self-confidence all play a key role in his impending doom. I conclude that the mentality of this game of priority and influence shows that many people, both present and past, have lost their contentment and are placed in an eternal abyss, both literally (hell in the case of Dr. Faustus) and metaphorically, because of an inferior intuition. Near the dawn of the story, we are introduced to our protagonist, the intellectually gifted character of Doctor Faustus, who has a strong desire to train in magic. This man is brilliant, but somehow he still lacks a certain inexplicable inner strength and insight. As his desire to learn magic comes true, he reluctantly summons a devil, Mephistopheles, who contemplates the difficult decision of whether to take his soul to hell or save him from eternal terror. Without thinking, Faustus is triggered by his desire, influenced by his enemies and corrupted by his new hobby, and sells his soul to the devil in a foolish bargain; hell, after 24 years of supernatural powers. Influence becomes the first factor of consequence. Doctor Faustus is first touched by his two friends to wade into the notion of magic. He is then influenced by the bad angel, rather than the good one, who pushes him to advance in his study. Continued middle of paper......n able to fight against the inaccuracy he made. Some things may never be revisited, but when given a chance, a compromise can be found. In Faustus' case, he was told repeatedly to repent and ask God for mercy. Of course, his desire got the better of him, and he ignored his doubts and fear. If something doesn't seem intact, follow what your intuition tells you. This is a key point that this drama turned out to be true. In conclusion, I think the story was full of knowledge, understanding and cleverness which are all crucial factors in life. Without influence, corruption and intuition, the human race would be very different. Everyone goes through their own right of passage, some sooner or later then others, where they must move past and leave behind part of their past, and move into what they want from their life. In the case of Faustus, he failed the test.
