  • Essay / Persuasive Essay on Same-Sex Marriage - 737

It cannot be denied that one of the main justifications for why same-sex marriage is currently illegal is due to the religious understanding that homosexual individuals are sinners. The reason is that when an individual violates the natural ethical order founded by God, he sins and insults God. A person who claims to follow God's teachings must oppose same-sex marriage because it is considered unethical and immoral. Additionally, same-sex marriage will infringe on our right to freely exercise our religious freedoms. A pastor should not be forced to marry a gay couple, nor should a church be forced to be the venue for a gay wedding. Legalizing same-sex marriage would amount to imposing our First Amendment rights.
