They were subjected to so many trials for which they were not prepared and were ultimately broken by them. The lack of workers' rights led to a change in attitude on the part of workers, they wanted to be treated better and work in healthy and hygienic conditions. Socialism was an open door for people pushed into poverty by the capitalist system. The corruption of the political system and factories led many people to support socialism because it was a fair chance for everyone. Even if factory owners and bosses were staunchly opposed to socialism, with enough support from the working class they could defeat the capitalist system.
