Lust and LoveWhen we look at the idea of “teenage love,” the story of “Romeo and Juliet” comes to mind. Shakespeare's play takes a critical look at what it means to truly be "in love." The basic context is that two families have an old feud that causes a lot of pain and conflict. When the children, Romeo and Juliet, fall into "passionate love", great chaos ensues, as neither child is able to let the families know that they have been secretly married. Due to their inability to tell the truth, Romeo and Juliet must go into hiding and hide their love. Due to their immaturity, too many people didn't know what was going on. Brother Laurent adds to the problem because of his choices. So, if one carefully examines "Romeo and Juliet", Friar Lawrence is clearly responsible for all the deaths for the following reasons: 1) He marries Romeo and Juliet in the first place; 2) He kills Tybalt; 3) He does not properly inform Romeo of Juliet's fake death, thus killing both. Due to Friar Lawrence's decision to marry Romeo and Juliet after the two families had a long conflict with each other, he causes the death in "Romeo and Juliet". , because he believes that their lustful love will bring families peace once they get married. “But come, young waver, come with me. In one respect, I will be your assistant; For this alliance can be so happy to transform the rancor of your households into pure love” (II, iii, 97-100). In this quote, Friar Lawrence is talking to Romeo about marriage and how, although the Friar knows about the families feuding against each other, he still suggests that everything will work out in the end once he will have married them. This part of the story begins much of the drama that will occur later. From middle of paper......problems. Although his intentions were good at heart, they did not go as planned. Marrying Romeo and Juliet after Romeo declared his love for her in a short time, knowing himself, was not a good choice. This deepens their affections for each other, leading Romeo to kill Tybalt on a second impulse. Brother Lawrence indirectly caused Tybalt's death. Not only did he create more problems throughout the story, but he ultimately killed Romeo and Juliet, as he did not properly inform Romeo of Juliet's fake death, making Romeo believe that Juliet was actually dead . This causes Romeo to seek out the apothecary and search for poison to kill himself, so that he can also lie next to the dead Juliet. Through “Romeo and Juliet”, we see that Shakespeare gives the message that a passionate and blinding love could lead to many tragedies, including death..
