Essay / Analysis of the Hip-Hop Nation by Touré - 582
The Hip-Hop Nation, written by Touré, is a very interesting and engaging essay. The first thing I noticed is that the essay is written in the first person, which I believe was done to engage the readers and establish a connection between the author and the readers. I think it served its purpose very well as I felt very involved throughout the trial. An essay written in the first person feels more personal and allows readers, like me, to really relate to the content of the essay. I decided to try incorporating this style of writing into my essay as well. Previously, I said that writing in the first person allows the reader to better relate to the essay being written, however, I was not able to really relate to this essay in the sense that I don't really understand the author's passion for hip-hop. and the hip-hop lifestyle. Personally, I'm more of a Soul and Rhythm-and-Blues (R&B) fan, so I can't say that I belong to the Nation in one way or another. However, I still found the essay very interesting and learned a lot about the Hip-Hop lifestyle....
