Essay / The injustice of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) in...
At the start of the fall season, every Saturday, all fans eagerly await the biggest and most watched sport in the United States , college football. College football is known for being better than NFL football. Fans look forward to seeing their team make the Bowl Championship Series. The BCS includes four games based on the college football team's division and one game for the national championship game. Since college football players perform well because of their love of the sport, the BCS is an unfair system that does not recognize all college football teams. The Bowl Championship Series is a complex and controversial seeding system that is expected to be replaced by a playoff system, making it the only fair way to determine how and who should hold the national championship title. The first college football game took place on November 6. 1869 in New Jersey. It was against Rutgers University against Princeton where Rutgers won 6-4 (ours). Led by a team of twenty-five men, they played according to the rules of rugby and football adopted by the London Football Association and modified by their own sport. Finally, the other two stood on the opposing field to play in two positions, to defend and also score. From there it slowly began to spread to the east coast, first around 1875, and the number of players on the field dwindled to fifteen (ours). In the end, the National College Athletic Association was formed in the 1990s (ours). Take into consideration that having a playoff system would triple the amount of money in BCS. In both cases, everyone wins. As for college football players and fans, they only want one winning champion, decided by the work they have done on the field. Hopefully after the final season of the BCS era, after fifteen years, the new playoff system will give equal balance to all college football teams and there will be no more discrimination. Instead of having five winners, having a college football team based on its ranking, its records and its performance on the field, that's what I call a champion. As a student, fan, football player, and devoted fan of the game, having a champion is like winning a Super Bowl..
