Essay / Analysis of Nike women: Make Yourself campaign
The Make Yourself campaign is closely linked to the philosophy of hedonism. Advertisements are a similar example of the euphemism “live for today.” The images reflect moderation in that the photographer has chosen only inspiring photos of the models. Advertising choices can be justified because they cause no harm to the public. Even though the images are not offensive, Nike exhibits one of the main aspects of hedonism because one of its main goals is monetary gain. Another ethical perspective that this campaign is associated with is the Golden Rule. The philosophy of the Golden Rule states that an individual should be as humane as possible and never harm others through callous actions. The images are created by athletes from different backgrounds and with many different values and cultures. But even if differences exist, there is no evidence of what each person feels in their daily lives.
