  • Essay / Essay on Universality of Human Rights - 2079

There are issues that conflict with each other, causing some individuals to lose their self-esteem and rights. For example, a person of Asian cultural background would not be able to practice the Christian religion due to that culture's beliefs. This can become a problem because some may want to, but how will their culture perceive them, will they be able to continue living in this lifestyle. Different countries have had different interpretations as to which of these rights are important since the Universal Declaration was first adopted by the United Nations in 1948. Nations have chosen to ignore some or more of the stated rights or to placing certain rights above others. The Declaration has also been the subject of much criticism from those who believe it needs to broaden their views to help these countries resolve some of their problems.
