Essay / Why I should become a pediatrician - 1000
“Work for a cause. Not for the applause. Live life to express yourself. Not to impress. Don't try too hard to make your presence noticed. Just make your absence felt.” –Anonymous When I was a child, my mother always made me go to church, which was horrible for me, but one day being there made me want to become interested in pediatrics. That day the church asked the entire congregation to donate money for children in need and they showed a video of children receiving food and water, and the church wanted give more to these children, such as medical help. The reason I decided to become a pediatrician is because watching the video made me think that every child deserves a chance to live and laugh, to enjoy life, to dream and have a future, but because they don't have money, these children don't have any. all that. It's a gift for mothers to have children and for mothers to see their flesh and blood slowly die because they can't afford to go to the doctor, it's sad. My family income is not that high. Both my parents dropped out of high school and therefore never made it to college. As we all know, finding a well-paying job can be terrible without a high school or college diploma, but they make it happen. Studying to become a pediatrician is very expensive, but both my parents and I work hard enough to go to college. I am the first in my family generation to go to college and have a career. It's not easy being the first because sometimes it can be very frustrated because if I were to fail with every single person in my family look good and maybe even be disappointed not to mention my younger sister and cousin. They all admire me and are proud to be the first to break this chain. During my junior year of high school, I volunteered in a program that involved ...... middle of paper ...... fe and managed to break the chain by deciding to be different and stand out of my family. Even though my graduation day should have been more exciting, now I understand why it was the most important day of my life, because that day I should have said YES!! I've come this far. Graduating from high school was my minor goal and I was accomplished. The fact that my minor goal was achieved made me realize that anything is possible. That day of realizing what graduation should have meant to me allowed me to improve and set high standards for myself. My parents are both Mexican so I'm Hispanic and in my ethnicity the percentage of getting a college degree is not that high but the fact that I even graduated and my education already shows that I can be part of the percentage of students graduating from the university. My perspective changed to become a different person and succeed in my life.
