  • Essay / Summary of 'Sky's The Limit' - 824

“Sky is the limit,” he always says. This is by far my Uncle Richie's favorite motto and saying. My uncle is a very determined man, with many goals and aspirations. He's the kind of man who will do whatever is necessary to provide for his family and friends (a rare find these days). The type of work never mattered to him if he had to shovel for days on end he would do it. The northeast storms were no match for him, so he put on his suit, packed a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and headed out. He was a very strong man in our eyes, which is probably why he decided to join the army. He served in the Navy for eight years and recently became a firefighter. He is interested in discipline, structure, goals and achieving those goals, and he makes sure the whole family is aware that they too can reach for the stars and do whatever they want, it just takes a little hard work. the youngest of eight children, so he never really knew what it felt like to have new electronics or new clothes. It was all passed down from each brother until it finally reached him and by then he was badly worn out and it embarrassed him. He got tired of this routine and decided to look for odd jobs in the neighborhood. He noticed that he had become very popular in the neighborhood for his odd jobs with quality service. The following year, all the neighbors were looking for him. After working and saving money, he was finally able to buy new clothes, electronics, anything he or his family wanted! “Work pays,” he always said, and he never stopped investing in all the jobs he held. After finishing high school, he decided to join the Navy. After the attacks of September 11, 2001, again ... middle of paper ...... he realized that his closest friend was seriously injured and clinging to life. He immediately began helping everyone he could and was thus able to get many men out of danger and many of them to safety. Luckily for his friend, he knew about ligation and how to stop arterial bleeding. My uncle stopped his bleeding, kept him alert and responsive until the medical team arrived. He survived and it was thanks to my uncle who saved his life. After his military service, he decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life saving the lives of others. Which sparked an interest in becoming a firefighter. Fortunately, his military experience gave him an advantage during his recruiting process, and it only took him a year before he officially started the Fire Academy. My uncle continues to show how the sky is the limit and why my unsung hero is.
