Contrary to preaching about the benefits of milk and what you may have seen or heard on billboards and television commercials, the reality is that milk does more harm than good to your body due to the use of hormones and the harmful effects of milk on your body. .Why do so many people consume milk daily? In many cultures, milk has long been a staple food, from birth to adulthood, dating back 7,500 years. (Is milk good for you). Today, milk is one of the most used culinary ingredients. It is used in cereals, drunk plain or can be added with flavorings to give it a chocolate or strawberry taste. “It provides other food sources like cheese, yogurt and butter” (Is Milk Good). Milk contains many minerals and vitamins that the body uses to maintain healthy homeostasis, such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium and sodium. These minerals help maintain strong bones, generate energy for cells, regulate body fluids, and stimulate nerves (Tod). The most notable vitamin in milk is “vitamin D, which promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, and influences bone mineralization, bone strengthening” (Tod). Milk also contains high levels of protein which is used to build and repair muscles, maintain healthy skin and help with resistance to infections (Tod).
