In what can be called a viscous cycle beginning with the war on drugs, a war that, from the beginning, has unfairly targeted minorities. A war that contributed to the breakdown of the black family and adds to the constant socio-economic struggle that perpetuates crime in many communities. These communities are subject to constant and unfair policing that puts so many young people into the system, discredits them, imprisons them, and ultimately breaks them. Filled with discriminatory practices that have been neglected for years under the guise of “victory”. A victory that may never happen
