Some say that rap music is what causes people to go into a violent frenzy, but in reality, music is not what causes someone to act. It’s up to the person to follow through on their actions and actually decide to go. Depending on who listens to rap, it can be harmful. My point is that rap music could potentially be harmful to young people. Nowadays, everyone listens to music; especially teenagers. There are many genres that children can listen to, but parents are more worried when their children listen to rap. “Studies have long shown that media messages have a pronounced impact on risky behaviors in children. Exposure to images of tobacco in films influences a child's risk of developing the habit” (Parker-Pope, Tara). You know, kids growing up need someone they look up to, but parents don't want it to be rappers their kids look up to. Not because of how they dress but what these artists display in their lyrics and videos. Personally, I believe that songs don't particularly push children to the point where they have to imitate exactly what the artist is doing. If their parents raised them correctly, children would know that it's not the best idea to be like a rapper. You may say that "kids don't know any better", but in reality they know the difference between something that is bad and good, it is
