This turned out to be all that was needed to prove him guilty of treason. The monarchy was abolished in 1792 by the National Convention during which France was declared a Republic. The following year, King Louie XVI was condemned to death by a majority vote of the people and beheaded by the guillotine on 01/21/1793. Inevitably, Queen Marie-Antoinette was also put to death 9 months later in the same manor as her husband. The French Revolution impacted society by allowing the people to have rights and the ability to not be controlled and exploited by aristocracies. Regardless of the work done, every person and family would have their needs met so that no one would suffer without food, shelter or medical care. It took years for the French Revolution to end. Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost so that survivors could achieve a better life for themselves and future generations. People who thought they couldn't make a change or difference took inspiration from the wisdom of philosophers. Philosophers have promoted education and intelligence in many different aspects. Most importantly, people learned to stand up for their beliefs and not allow themselves to be controlled or intimidated by the society that was superior to them in terms of power, wealth, and control.
