Religion is an organized set of beliefs and worldviews that connect humanity to an ordered existence, why we are here. Many different symbols intended to explain the meaning of life, existence and to explain the origin of the universe. Religion is different from their beliefs about the cosmos and human nature. There are many different religions in the world and many different beliefs. There are many religions that have survived brutal wars and many different religious wars called crusades. The Egyptian religion guided everything in Egypt. The Egyptians believed in many different gods, such as Osiris, the god of vegetation and the underworld. This means they are polytheists, meaning they believe in multiple gods. They had over 2,000 gods and goddesses and perhaps many more. Egypt has many different beliefs and rituals that were part of ancient Egyptian society, such as the afterlife ceremony. The Egyptians could interact with several different gods and goddesses, who believed to be present and in control of nature and life. The myths of the gods were supposed to explain why they were here and why the different forces were here. Religion was to provide for their needs and grant them favor. Mummification was one of the different types of rituals that were part of ancient Egyptian society. Mummification is a type of preservation of the dead practiced by the ancient Egyptians. Mummies were placed in tombs or pyramids. The Egyptians also believed that what one put in the pyramids, they could take with them to the afterlife, like gold, food and even slaves.
