  • Essay / My future goals: Feerngully, the last rainforest

In a field like environmental leadership, you cannot use traditional education when you are working to change tradition itself. Learning to build human-nature relationships as well as establish environmental justice and resolve conflict involves being more attentive to yourself and the world around you. Personally, I feel the need to practice connecting with nature on a deeper level, because to fully listen to nature, I believe I should first establish a connection. Using an experiential academic context is beneficial in that it shows you how you would apply everything you have learned in a real-world context. I feel like this method gives me the opportunity to solve problems using creativity and new perspectives on what I have learned. I am passionate about playing a vital role in raising awareness about environmental destruction and helping to bring about a paradigm shift. The criteria and foundation on which the Master of Environmental Leaders is based constitute the ideal program that would lead me on the right path.
