SUMMARY: In this story, there is a 17 year old boy, half white and half Indian, named Sonny. Sonny is really good at boxing but when he fights he feels a monster coming up inside him. This makes him want to smash everything and crush other players without thinking about it. His great uncle, Jake, feels that Sonny has great power and strength to make him great one day with the help of his monster that Sonny has inside him, which he calls the Hawk. Jake wants Sonny to continue in the Indian tradition by becoming a Running Brave. The Running Braves were men specially trained to defend others and protect members of the Moscondaga tribe. Sonny wants nothing to do with it. One day Sonny was boxing and Jake was pressuring him to win, but Sonny wasn't good with it. This year, Sonny had to listen to others and do what they told him. Sonny had enough and decided to leave everything and start a new life. Sonny packed his bag and headed to New York, where his mother lives. Sonny's plan was to join the army. He traveled to New York to find his mother so that she could sign the papers that would allow him to join the army since he was a minor. Sonny got on the bus and plugged his headphones into his ears. When Sonny finally got there, he was in the middle of a huge crowd in New York. Two strangers walked towards Sonny. Sonny tried to avoid them but they were getting closer. “Hey,” said one of the strangers. “My name is Stick and this is Doll.” Sonny looked at Doll, she was really pretty. Sonny felt awkward because he doesn't even know any of them. Stick and Doll were pretty nice to Sonny so he decided to be their friends. There was a secret about Doll and Stick, they were drug dealers! The...... middle of paper ......e receives a card from Heather. One day, Brooks arrives, exhausted. He was on surveillance trying to catch Stick. He explains to Sonny why he is so determined to get Stick. His best friend had died of a drug overdose. Sonny and Brook suddenly became friends and worked together to get back on Stick and Doll. After all this hard work, Sonny had finally made it. He now knows who he really is and had his mother sign the military paper. Sonny has become a better person than before. ANSWER: This story was truly unique. This story has a strong theme behind it. It's a good book that shows that if you really want to do something in life, never give up and keep pushing and never give up on your dreams and hopes and the main character Sonny shows that. This book really inspired me, and I really enjoyed this book, and I'm really impressed by the authors' work..
