    Martin Luther King, Jr. brought all the people together to explain why they were there. As he states: “Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksand of racial injustice and the solid rock of brotherhood. The time has come to make justice a reality for all of God’s children” (King par. 5). This statement uses logical thinking to help its audience understand the message of this speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. uses the appeal of ethos from the beginning to the end of his speech. Because he was talking about African Americans, his own race, facing racism and discrimination. However, Dr. King uses all rhetorical devices in many ways, to the best of his ability, to gain favor with his audience, and he delivered an unforgettable and effective speech that made an impact on America. His main goal was to fight for equal rights for the African American people and to do this he aided civil rights in order to help his own race improve their rights.
