    Elementary school is where most people learn to interact with peers outside of their family. This is also where you learn to follow leaders and the instructions they give you. Without the foundations of reading, math, and problem solving, you wouldn't succeed in the higher grades. The difficulty of catching up may discourage you from trying. This may cause you to drop out of school or even not attempt to continue your college education. The result can limit your employment options and your ability to earn money, which leads to the second function, economic outcomes. The more education you have, the more likely you are to find your dream job. Not only with higher pay, but also with fewer physical demands, an increased likelihood of holding a management position, and overall improved working conditions that can lead to better health and longer life expectancy ( New York University Department of Sociology, 2013). I was fortunate to have teachers in my elementary school who were dedicated to teaching.
