Essay / Who is The Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini?
He is able to capture the reality of the times and express it through his words, and to write with a specific purpose. As a result, it can be said that he uses this work of historical fiction less as a theatrical stage and more as a platform to present to the public the inhumane nature of Afghanistan. Not only does it include the Taliban's grueling "bearded lookouts" who patrol the roads in their luxury Toyota trucks hoping to find "a clean-shaven to bloody face", but it also shows the horrific and frightening abuses against women which existed at the time. at the hands of men and the feelings of great despair and pain these women face as a result. Living in a state of unbearable fear of the next beating, the next detonating bomb, and the next brutal attempt by the Taliban, the lives of these characters seem almost too real not to be true. As a result, the reader wonders if this literary dimension added to reality is really an introspective study of individuals that Hosseini has been studying for a long time..
