  • Essay / Jean Grimshaw's idea of a feminine ethic - 1054

So when we look at war, politics and capitalist economic dominations, as Grimshaw suggests, is it due to the male psyche and male ethics? I believe that was the case and still is the case today, to a certain extent. I believe that certain values and ethics are different between women and men. I believe that women's maternal idealism is what sets us apart. I think of the story of the two children, the male chooses to steal and the female chooses to have a conversation. I'm sure different kids would react differently, but if we generalize, I think Grimshaw got it right. It is this set of ethics that, in my opinion, makes men more prone to violence and war and can lead us to argue that the destruction of much of our world is due to ethics or to masculine values. It's not very far when you look at history and see who made the decision and who took care of it.
