    The film shows the Dursleys and Harry leaving Privet Drive and heading straight for the house in the ocean. The movie shows Hagrid picking him up and taking him to buy school supplies and this is where the novel and movie are identical. However, they begin to go in different directions when Harry is shown staying in the Leaky Cauldron and then heading towards the train. In the novel, Harry returns to the Dursleys' house where he stays for a month until the first of September and Uncle Vernon reluctantly takes him to the train station. At the climax of the story, Harry fights his way through all the obstacles, including a game of chess and a moat of vines, to arrive at the Mirror of Erised which hides the Sorcerer's Stone. The mirror shows what a person desires most in life and also protects the Sorcerer's Stone. Harry Potter in the novel sees his entire extended family surrounding him alive and in the film he only sees his mother and father. Professor Qurril has Lord Voldemort on his head and covers him by wearing a turban around his head. Harry starts looking for this mirror and tries to get to it before Professor Qurril does. Harry arrives at the mirror after Qurril and this is where the novel and the film take different paths. In the novel, Qurril wraps Harry in ropes with a spell, but in the film he lights flames around Harry. Qurril goes to touch Harry and in the novel he is burned intensely and dies. In the film, Qurril touches Harry and immediately dies turning to stone. Harry then faints and Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts, tells Harry that only a pure-hearted person could search and find the stone. That's why he was the one who was able to find it and not Qurril. The film and the book are similar in this
