  • Essay / Many Worlds Interpretation - 1276

If You Don't Like Reading About The Multiverse, There Is A Parallel Universe Where You Do By Ariel BiedermanWith every decision you make, you know there will be some sort of result. But how big is this result? Bigger than you think. Every time you make a choice, an entire universe is created in which you make a different choice. This is called the Many Worlds Interpretation, established by Hugh Everett III, which essentially states that multiple branes (each a universe) collide, causing Big Bangs. Universes bounce and travel through time until removed, but do not collapse, making every possibility a reality. This would make every possibility a reality somewhere at some point. Unlike the many-worlds interpretation, John Wheeler's anthropic principle states that an observer is needed to cause a wave function to collapse, not just branes bouncing off each other. A good example of this idea is Schrödinger's cat experiment. In this test, a cat is placed in a sealed box with a vial containing poison and radioactive materials. If an internal monitor detects radioactivity (a single decaying atom), the vial will shatter and the poison will kill the cat. This makes the cat simultaneously alive AND dead until you open the box and make an observation. Another popular idea concerns string theorist Brian Greene's 9 types of parallel universes. These 9 types cover each of the different ways parallel universes could exist. The first of the nine is quilted. Quilted universes could only function in an infinite universe. With an infinite amount of space, all possible events will happen and an infinite number of times. However, the speed of light prevents us from being aware of these other identical areas. The next year... middle of paper ...... verses around us. Although there is no proof that any of this information is true, there are still several clues or pieces of evidence that lead some people to believe that parallel universes exist. One example is ghosts and paranormal activities. Some say ghosts simply come from parallel universes spilling into ours. There might even be a kingdom of the dead! With ghosts, dreams might have something to do with parallel universes. They say sleep is just a slice of death, could dreams be a window into an alternative universe? Déjà vu might also have something to do with the multiverse theory. You might think the person you're meeting for the first time seems familiar, but you don't know why. Parallel universe. You may think that you have done something before. Parallel universe. Walk into a room and forget why? Parallel universe!
