As the mother has finished dinner, she sits outside spinning her flax, she sings a sweet melody "My dick has eaten five, five pies today" and along comes the King. As the king listens and does not hear very well, he approaches and asks the mother "What were you singing, my good woman?" the mother was so ashamed to let him hear what her daughter had done, so instead she sang, "My dart has spun five, fie skeins today" because she knew a king would not be happy with a woman eating pies all day. The morals and beliefs of this time were very attached to spinning flax, the sign of a hardworking woman. While the mother speaks with the king, he explains to her that he needs a wife "Stars o' mine". I've never heard of anyone who could do that.
