Education is the process of receiving knowledge and learning from it. Throughout the Renaissance, many ideas and concepts were created or revived. Before the Renaissance, in medieval times, people were not very educated because the land was corrupted because of the Church. Additionally, at that time, few people could afford education. After this time, people began to emphasize self-improvement by increasing their abilities and knowledge. Changes in thought that occurred during the Renaissance led to an increase in the population of educated individuals due to the influence of the Church, the rise of the University, and the education of women. Theology was created during the Renaissance and has impacted education and the Church since it was created. was the study of God. The Bible was retranslated to rediscover its meaning so that people could learn to live their new lives. With the creation of the printing press, it was easier for people to obtain copies of the Bible, the holy book of the Catholic Church, to learn and read. They wanted to be able to read the Bible so people could truly understand the history of the Catholic Church. After reading the Bible, many people began to criticize the Catholic Church and its beliefs and did not really trust what the Catholic Church said. They believed that what the Church taught was not what was in the Bible, which led to the Reformation. The Reformation was a religious revolution that caused more people to be more educated. The Reformation created a sense of individualism which began a great change in education. Part of this individualism came from Martin Luther, a monk who devoted himself to the study of the Bible.
