King's conceptual systems help connect these people (our patients, our families, our colleagues), their problems (ill health, chemical dependency), and their environment (culture, social environment), into three systems which, if we, health care providers, take into account, can contribute to achieving health. King's theory of goal achievement focuses on the nurse-client relationship, takes systems into account, and emphasizes the importance of it in achieving the desired outcome. The field of nursing involves human beings, families, and communities as a setting in which nurses transact in multiple environments with health as the goal (King, The Theory of Goal Attainment in Research and Practice, 1996) . King's system helps us, as nurses, to respect the differences within our world and, through those differences, to achieve the goal:
