  • Essay / Observing Early Childhood Education - 1930

As you walk through the front doors of the county elementary school, you see children of all ages playing while waiting for the school bell to ring. As you walk towards the classroom I will be observing, you will see students with their parents' queue waiting to be enrolled. Students must be registered by a parent or guardian for safety reasons and shows that the child has been enrolled in school. As a visitor I have to register, this shows that I was in the class, what time I was there and the reason for my visit to the class. Introduce myself to Ms. Smith, the teacher, and Ms. Brown, the teaching assistant. ; I explained that I would observe the class. Ms. Smith informed me that the name of the program is County Unified School District First 5 Pre K Academy, there are 12 elementary schools, 7 schools that have this program; A goal of the program is to have the other 5 primary schools with the program. They are also part of a few other programs that make this program possible for students: Color Me Healthy, CATCH, and First 5. Each of these programs has a high impact on the program, they help in their own topic of the program. This Pre k program is offered to students ages 4 to 5 and is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk around the classroom observing what is available; I see storage space for students to put their backpacks and jackets away as they walk in the door. There is the first aid backpack, the evacuation procedures, the scheduled date of the exercises, the school calendar and the important dates in front of the door which is also their emergency exit. Ms. Smith pointed me in the direction where there will be information about the program and the pr...... middle of paper ...... the environment the children are in is a safe zone that offers safety and FIRST AID. I really enjoy learning the policy regarding late selection, it really informed me about the word abandonment as well. Works Cited “CATCH Early Childhood Physical Education”. Introduction (nd): 1.
