Essay / Organizational Socialization Tactics for Newcomer Personnel...
IntroductionSocialization is a process in which a newcomer adapts the behavior pattern of the organizations surrounding culture and acquires the knowledge and attitudes necessary to become an effective member of an organization (Van Maanen and Schein, 1979) Socialization of the organization for a new staff member is very essential because adaptation during initial entry is generally considered the most intense and problematic phase and through the process of socialization, a newcomer gets in tune with the organization and adapts to its environment, it becomes easier. for the newcomer to learn the values, norms and resources of the organization. Organizations invest a lot of money and resources in the recruitment and selection process (Bauer et al., 1998). It's important to quickly get a newcomer up to speed when they are hired to contribute. Previous research shows that there have been negative impacts of lack of socialization in an organization and its employees, organizations have unmet expectations while negative behavior and poor attitude are observed in newcomers without socialization while successful socialization results in organizational attachment and commitment, job satisfaction, social relationships. integration, role clarity, task mastery, and value congruence (Wanous and Colella, 1989) Methods for socializing newly arrived personnel According to previous research, individual behavior and organizational actions are responsible for effective socialization ( Van Maanen and Schein, 1979). Therefore, the two methods of socialization are the socialization tactics offered by organizations and the socialization techniques used by newcomers themselves. Newcomers can be classified into two categories: qualified newcomers or experienced newcomers (Carr et al, 2006). Graduated in... middle of article......
