Essay / Persuasive Essay on Uniform Revolution - 1407
The main difference between uniforms and dress code is that a dress code is just a regulation on what can be worn and a full uniform means that all everyone has to wear exactly the same clothes. Currently, more than half of public schools have a dress code in place to control violence and inappropriate behavior in their districts so as not to infringe on their students' modification rights (school uniforms). The main problem with dress codes is that most find them difficult, if not impossible, to enforce due to the rules regarding clothing length and the need for teachers to enforce them when doing their instructional work to the students (Wilde). Uniforms are much easier to enforce simply because everyone has to wear the same clothes, so it's obvious who is wearing the right clothes (Wilde). They also provide additional security because it is obvious who is supposed to be on campus and who is not (Wilde). Currently, there is no requirement for a state to fully implement uniforms, but there is also no ban on uniforms, so the debate continues, as the Most still wonder whether they are constitutional or not. Even as the debate continues, the implementation of uniforms does not appear to be slowing down.
