Essay / East Africa Drought - 1527
The world should pool its resources because the way the drought is affecting the people of East Africa is killing them. It is reasonable not to live in conditions where there is little food and water. People need to meet their basic needs to survive and East Africa is far from the ideal place to do this due to drought. The people of East Africa have limited crops that are mostly poor due to lack of water, small herds of livestock due to hot conditions, and poor land for food, while the rest of the world has the resources to provide aid on a large scale (Stewart, 2011). This is a major problem because globally we are allowing people in East Africa to suffer when there is no need for it. Drought in East Africa is causing many conflicts and deaths due to lack of food and water. We have created myths and spirits to try to explain the patterns of nature (Druyan). According to Fox, the drought has also been seen as a slow-motion train wreck. Since 1984, at least sixty major food crises have occurred in E...... middle of paper ...... years ago and this statistic shows that more people are living beyond the age two years, but remain in terrible conditions (Pflanz, 2011). Somali Dadaab is home to the largest refugee camp in the world, and many are trying to leave this place because there is no place for them (Stewart, 2011). The drought has caused hardship in all three regions and its impact is large-scale. The process of solving this drought is not having the impact it should have because people are dying every day because of this drought. Therefore, the fact is that this drought has changed the way of life of the people of East Africa and its effects on children who never knew. the environment in another way, we are all born into a life of inequality and with all the resources in the world and the ability to produce surplus food, there is no reason for people to starve no only because of drought, but in any condition..
