The civil rights movement was mainly influenced by Martin Luther King Jr and the SCLC who organized peaceful protests. They used young people, especially high school students, to march, causing tension on the government, because the government cares a little too much about the American image and some measures were taken. After the peaceful protest turned into a riot, the police used so much power that foreign media ridiculed America and the Jim Crow South, aiding civil rights movement activists and forcing the president and government to take measurements.
