    Sports medicine is a medical field specializing in the fitness, treatment and prevention of sports and exercise-related injuries. It was introduced in the early Greek and Roman era, when the first modern Olympic Games took place. The Greeks believed they could do something to help heal and prevent the injuries athletes suffered. Now in sports medicine, certain injuries can only be evaluated and treated by specific doctors. These doctors may include physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches. Although sports doctors are most often seen by athletes after an injury so that they can be treated, some doctors are seen before an injury occurs so that they can learn how to prevent injuries. In ancient Greece and ancient Rome, Herodic first combined sports with health. It was thanks to him that people realized that exercise and a good diet helped improve our health. Through these achievements, sports training and athletics competitions became very popular and led to the first Olympic Games which were held in Athens, Greece in 1896. These competitions made coaches and fans understand how important and necessary it was to stretch and warm up before training events. . They wanted to find ways to prevent injuries and treat them immediately when they occurred during events. The term sports medicine was not considered until the 1928 Olympic Games in Switzerland, where the first international sports medicine congress first met and became an organization.
